Rape Crisis Training Institute: Laying the Groundwork: Community Mobilization for Primary Prevention of Sexual Violence in NYCDescription
Rape Crisis Training Institute Workshop Series 2007-2008 Laying the Groundwork: Community Mobilization for Primary Prevention of Sexual Violence in NYC
We are dedicating this year's RCTI series to helping ensure the New York City Rape Crisis Programs are prepared for the shift in funding which will require a more dedicated focus on primary prevention of sexual violence. What are hopeful that through these workshops, technical assistance, and plenty of collaborative planning, we will arrive at a sound strategy for launching the city’s first demonstration project focused on primary prevention of sexual violence. Who From Your Organization Should Attend These Workshops? These workshops are tailored for staff of NYC rape crisis programs, though we will welcome community organizers and professionals with specific interest in this material. Rape crisis programs will find it most efficient if the staff who attends these workshops has some experience with program design, strategic planning, or program evaluation. Staff with experience in community outreach and training development would also be good choices. It will be important for workshop participants to have the opportunity to share what they learn in the workshop with the rest of your organization in order to discuss and plan prevention programming. Technical assistance from the Alliance will be available between workshops to assist in such planning. Ideally, at least one participant from your organization will be able to attend all four trainings, though we know this sort of consistency may be impossible due to other scheduling imperatives. How To RegisterPlease contact Tami to register: tpollak@nycagainstrape.org. Workshops are free for individuals who work for a NYS-DOH funded rape crisis program, and $50 per training for participants from other programs. However, we do not want cost to pose a barrier to participation, so please contact Tami to discuss any concerns.More DetailsRCTI #1: Training Program I: Using An Evidence Base To Design a Primary Prevention ProjectTuesday, November 27th 10A - 5p Alliance Offices 27 Christopher Street, Conference Room A and B RCTI #2: Training Program II: How to determine criteria for and execute an assessment of community readiness for primary prevention of sexual violence Thursday, December 6th 10A - 5p Laura Pratt Conference Center (22nd and Park, NYC) RCTI #3: Training Program III: Considering the community readiness for primary prevention of sexual violence of ~18[1] distinct communities in NYC (The Report Back RCTI) Thursday, March 6, 2008 RCTI # 4: Training Program IV: How to create a community asset map Thursday, May 1, 2008 |
