New York City Hotlines & Referral Services

If you or someone you know is a survivor of sexual assault, call the Safe Horizon Rape Crisis/Sexual Abuse Hotline 212-227-3000 to find the nearest rape crisis program.

If you or someone you know needs general information, support and assistance with reporting sexual violence, call the New York City Police Department Special Victims Report Line, 646-610-RAPE, or call the NYC Gay and Lesbian Anti-Violence Project, 212-714-1141.

To report child abuse and neglect, call the New York State Child Abuse and Maltreatment Register Hotline, 1-800-342-3720 (general public) or 800.635.1552 (mandated reporters).

For information about convicted felons in the Department of Corrections, call Victim Information & Notification Everyday (VINE), 888.VINE.4NY.

For help with victims' rights and compensation, call the New York State Crime Victims Board, 718-923-4325, or 1-800-579-0689, or 1-888-289-9747 (TTY).

District Attorney’s offices in each borough have specialized divisions that prosecute sexual assault and abuse. The numbers of the offices are listed below.

National Hotlines and Referral Services

If you or someone you know is a victim of sexual violence call the Rape Abuse and Incest National Network at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673) Free, confidential, 24 hrs.

If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence call the National Domestic Violence Hotline 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or 1-800-787-3244 (TTY) for support, shelter, or services. Free, confidential, 24 hrs.

If you know a child who is being abused or neglected call the Childhelp USA National Child Abuse Hotline for advice and information. This is not the same as reporting the abuse - the purpose is to give you information on options. 1-800-4-A-CHILD (1-800-422-4453) Free, confidential, 24 hrs.

If you or someone you know is being stalked, contact the National Center for Victims of Crime Stalking Resource Center at 1-800- FYI-CALL M-F, 8:30 am- 8:30 pm EST or visit their website http://www.ncvc.org/src/index.html
