Rape Crisis Training Institute: Space Still Available!! "From Trash to Treasure: Low-budget Ways to Renovate Teen Educational Literature"

The date for this training has passed. The information below is from our archive.

Description

When programs do in-school presentations, time is limited. Leaving some literature behind can augment the impact, and could be crucial for young people coping with sexual violence.

But what if your materials are thrown in the trash before you leave the classroom?

In this workshop, presenters will discuss cheap ways to help your handouts survive in the hands of a discriminating audience. Pat Tobin, of the Michael Cohen Group research firm, will address educational and developmental stages of male and female teens, and how they interpret issues of violence, masculinity, safety, consensual sex, sexual assault and other relevant subjects. Craig Yoe of creative firm Yoe Studios will talk about some successful educational and not-so-educational commercial marketing to kids, and how to make messages that are “parent tested, kid approved.”

For the brave: Find out if you’re totally hip or tragically square! Send us a copy of a brochure, flyer or other literature for teens – our experts will critique it with you and your peers at the workshop.

The Rape Crisis Training Institute is funded by the NYS Department of Health. Workshops are free for employees of Department of Health sponsored rape crisis programs. There is a $50 fee for all others.
