Every year during Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Alliance conducts a full-day speak out in Union Square park aimed at raising awareness around the issue of sexual violence. In 2007, the Alliance evaluated this event. Audience questionnaires, presenter questionnaires and coding of messages from the stage were methods used to determine if the following goals were being met:
Goals:
1. Audience members of the 2007 SAY SO even will hear messages: a) that sexual violence is common, b) that sexual violence has serious consequences for survivors, c) that there resources in the city for survivors and d) that people support those who speak out against sexual violence.
2. After hearing these messages, audience members of the 2007 SAY SO event will: a) think sexual violence is an important problem, b) think that sexual violence is not the victims' fault and c) believe that we can stop sexual violence from occurring.
