The Supervising Social Worker enhances the clinical component of the Streetwork Project though individual staff supervision and client program support. This position is responsible for maintaining a high standard of client services and for providing intensive support to clients with special mental health needs.
Essential Job Functions
- Conducts weekly one-hour individual clinical supervision with staff to further develop skills and knowledge and ensure quality of direct client services,
- Provides one-on-one intensive counseling sessions for clients with special mental health needs,
- Facilitates weekly clinical case conferencing with drop-in centers and residential case managers,
- Provides crisis intervention and emergency assessment for clients in crisis,
- Supervises and ensures quality of group design and facilitation,
- Oversees all clients services; including implementation of staff trainings, workshops and case conferencing,
- Conducts monthly chart reviews to insure the quality of services and staff administrative work,
- Acts as a liaison with the part time psychiatrist, Streetwork supervising social workers and case managers to ensure clients' issues have been addressed,
- Establishes linkages with external housing programs to support clients in longer-term housing plans,
- Facilitates internal trainings and discussions, strengthening staff's ability to assess mental health needs and increase counseling knowledge and skills that enhance the counseling component,
- Provides 24-hour on call support to program staff -- this is a shared/rotating responsibility with all supervisors.
- Supervises Case Managers
Required
- Knowledge and comfort working within a harm reduction setting,
- Individual must have the ability to work in a crisis-driven environment,
- The ability to balance administrative responsibilities, client needs and task management skills,
- Appropriate social work background; including experiences working with at-risk adolescent and/or homeless populations,
- Individuals must possess clinical and supervisory skills,
- Spanish speaking a plus.
