Meeting Description:
Town Hall Event, Peace in the Home: Domestic Work in NY State
On behalf of Domestic Workers United (DWU), New York Jobs with Justice, and Jews for Racial and Economic Justice (JFREJ), I would like to invite you to attend a special event about the future of New York. We represent thousands of New Yorkers who believe and work toward creating just and sustainable communities. Everyday, 200,000 domestic workers (nannies, eldercare providers, housekeepers) in New York make it possible for their employers to go to work; most are employed without a living wage, healthcare, and basic labor protections. Representing both domestic workers and employers, we want to ensure that these workers are treated with dignity and respect.
The Town Hall will include statements by domestic workers, domestic employers, civic, religious and legislative leaders. It?s time to show mass community support for the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights (more information available) and get commitments from key legislators to move the Bill forward. Save your spot now!
