Confidentiality, with regard to medical treatment, means that information about the treatment, such as medical records, cannot be disclosed or released without the permission of the person who consented to the care. [19] Therefore, when a minor can give informed consent for rape crisis services, information relating to such services may not be released to third parties without the minor's consent, unless otherwise required by law (see Questions 6 & 8).
