Internationally, rape in refugee situations has become quite common. According to the Human Rights Watch document "Sexual Violence Against Refugees: Guidelines on Prevention and Response", there are several causes or circumstances which allow sexual attacks to take place.

Such is life in reality TV, where advertisers and producers manufacture biased caricatures of women and people of color for millions of viewers. Reality TV edits life to reinforce some of our culture's most regressive stereotypes. How are these negative portrayals of gender and race seeping into everyday life, and what is the impact for women and people of color? It's time for a reality check. |
