The New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault: Forum: Addressing Gender-Based Violence with Immigrant Communities in NYC

Organization: The New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault

Description:

  • Learn about an exciting new coalition in NYC called Action Research for Immigrant Social Empowerment (ARISE).
  • Hear the NYC Alliance Against Sexual Assault present findings from a pilot participatory action research project conducted in 2006 on sexual violence with immigrant women representing 12 countries in Africa, Central and South America and the Caribbean.
  • Discuss the issue of gender-based violence among immigrant communities with other service providers and community members.
  • Apply activities to discuss gender-based violence and the development of gender-based violence intervention and prevention programs to other settings.
  • Receive a free copy of the research report.
