Special Report: Partners and Peers - Sexual and Dating Violence Among NYC Youth : New York Teens Victimized at Rate Nearly Twice National Average

The New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault and Columbia University Center for Youth Violence Prevention just released results from a three-year survey on sexual and dating violence among New York City High School students. Description:
FREE Teen Self-Defense:  A free five-week program for teen women and transyouth age 14-19, featuring safety and violence prevention information, discussions, and simple, effective verbal and physical techniques.  Class meets Saturdays from 12:30-2:30pm, May 3-June 7 (excluding May 24). 

Adult Self-Defense: This five-week self-defense course teaches simple, effective verbal and physical self-defense techniques for all ages and abilities.  Includes discussion and safety and violence prevention information.  Sliding scale fee based on income; free for survivors of violence.  Open to adult women and transpeople.  Class meets Saturdays from 3:00-5:30pm, May 3-June 7 (excluding May 24).
