St. Vincent's Hospital: Two New Groups

Organization: St. Vincent's Hospital

Program: Rape Crisis Program

Description:

Once-a-Month Support Group for Rape Survivors

St. Vincent's once-a-month support group for survivors of rape/sexual assault has started up again after the summer break.  This group is held on the first Saturday afternoon of each month and provides a safe place for rape survivors to give and get support from other survivors.

New members must speak with the group facilitator prior to attending.  Please call Jean at 212-604-8068 if you are interested in attending.

Stretching and Strengthening Class

This weekly class for female survivors creates a non-judgmental safe environment for female survivors to begin to stretch and strengthen their bodies.  The class leader is a survivor who has more than 20 years experience in bodybuilding, exercise, general health, and nutrition.  We start each class slowly stretching and relaxing, letting go of tension from the week.  A St. Vincent's counselor also attends the classes.

This is a free weekly class for female survivors.  The class is held on Thursday nights at 6 p.m. for an hour.  It is held in the conference room off the Rape Crisis Program offices at 41-51 East 11th floor, on the 9th floor.  Please call for more information or with questions - 212-604-8068.
