Special Report: Partners and Peers - Sexual and Dating Violence Among NYC Youth : New York Teens Victimized at Rate Nearly Twice National Average

The New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault and Columbia University Center for Youth Violence Prevention just released results from a three-year survey on sexual and dating violence among New York City High School students. Safe Horizon: Support group for girls (ages 9-12), survivors of sexual abuse and their caregivers

Description:
The Jane Barker Brooklyn Child Advocacy Center is planning a Support group for girls (ages 9-12), survivors of sexual abuse and their caregivers. Our intention for the group is to offer children and parents an opportunity to express and explore their feelings, enhance self-esteem, strengthen social skills, and increase feelings of empowerment and self-worth. The support group is FREE of charge and will be held on Tuesday evenings 5:30-7:30pm during the course of 10 weeks. The child must currently be in individual treatment or have previously been in treatment. Screening is required. Referrals must be made by January 27th at 5pm.

Start Date: Planning on starting the first week of February
Time: 5:30-7:30pm Tuesday evenings 5:30-7:30pm
