Terror Of Sex Ordeal Responded to by Anastasia Webb
Dear New York Post editor,

In the article ì"Terror of Sex Ordealî", by reporting on the victim's physical appearance and describing elements of the rape with romantic, sexualized language, you are validating the predatorís delusion that he raped this woman because he was overwhelmingly sexually attracted to her. The writer is perpetuating the myth that rape is a sexual act. Yes, there is penetration of sex organs, but the reality of the experience of rape is terrifying violence. It is in no way the sadistic, yet erotic act the writer has described. Please do not sensationalize these crimes in the future. There is very little understanding of the nature of rape, and therefore criminals are regularly given light sentences, victims have very little opportunity for healing, and sexual violence is an epidemic in this country.
